TENSION IN LAKOWE AS GOVT. DISCONTINUES ROAD PROJECT.

Reports reaching our news desk say tension is brewing in Lakowe community in Lagos over government's decision to discontinue the construction of the Oribanwa- Lakowe link road.

Sources in the area who spoke to Alidiakenews said they are not happy with government's decision to discontinue the project.

Ajoma Abiodun, the CDA secretary, Lakowe said "We wrote a letter to the state government, through the commissioner for local government and chieftaincy affairs,  Musiliu Folami pleading that the construction should not stop at the spot where they have stop now because doing so will make it difficult and almost impossible for the drainages to flow freely to the canal".

He lamented that mosquitoes have invaded the area because of stagnated water caused by abrupt discontinuation of the project.
" As I speak, we are yet to get feedback from Musiliu Folami". He said.

"The government has tried a lot, but we are begging for the other half of the road to be constructed as well for peace to reign". He added.

Some residents of the area who spoke to alidiakenews on condition of anonymity, said government was insensitive for constructing 500metres out of over 1000metres stretch of road.

Some of them asked our correspondent: what is the point of constructing half and leaving the other half, what sense does it make?

As the time of filling this report, neither the contractor nor the commissioner of local government and chieftaincy affairs, Musiliu Folami could be reached as their phones were switched off.
