DI MARIA RETURNS AS PSG COMPLETES FIRST U.S. TRAINING SESSION

LOS ANGELES — If Thursday is any indication, the Unai Emery era at PSG will involve plenty of work. Despite spending 12 hours on the flight from Paris to LA, the team went through a physical training session Thursday.

Angel Di Maria went through his first session since returning from his summer holidays after the Copa America Centenario.

New addition Thomas Meunier, a right back who joined PSG from Brugges in the offseason, also went through his first practice as new director of football Patrick Kluivert looked on from the sideline.

Starting with smaller drills before moving to XI vs. XI exerciese, Emery and his staff were very vocal as always, calling players' attention to their positioning on the field. The staff also called out phrases exorting players to keep control of the ball and to keep the defensive line moving up the pitch.
Edinson Cavani starred during a drill in which the Parisians played two 15-minute halves with the objective scoring in three small goals placed around the training area. After the intense 30 minute session on the day of arrival, players may have thought the session was over as the Basque coach applauded repeatedly.

However, the first session in the U.S. closed with nearly 20 more minutes of conditioning.

The Argentine was back from his holiday just in time for the French giants' first training session in the United States on a physically demanding day.
