British Labour Party Lawmaker Jo Cox Dies After Attack, Police Say
Labour Party lawmaker Jo Cox died after being shot and stabbed in her parliamentary district earlier on Thursday, police said.
A man has been arrested and police said they are not looking for any further suspects, Bloomberg News reports.
“Jo was attacked by a man who inflicted serious and, sadly, ultimately fatal injuries,” West Yorkshire Police Temporary Chief Constable Dee Collins said in a televised press conference in Wakefield.
“I am now very sad to have to report that she has died as a result of her injuries,” she added.
Cox, a 41-year-old mother of two, helped launch the campaign group Britain In Europe.
