The United Bank for Africa, UBA, Plc, has reacted to media report linking it to the recent attempt to topple the government in Turkey, stating categorically that the allegations are clearly false as it has no involvement or connection to the allegations.
The commercial bank was reported to be the main base for the last six-months of money transactions for the coup plotters, and that millions of dollars of money was transferred from Nigeria to Turkey by a group of CIA personnel.
The report continued that over 2 billion dollars were distributed during the process leading to the coup and that the CIA team hand delivered the sum to the terrorists under the military dresses after taking money from their bank accounts.
But the bank has debunked the speculation in a statement issued on Tuesday by its Head of Communications, Charles Aigbe, UBA assured that “We remain focused and firmly committed to delivering on our strategy to build Africa’s premier banking institution.”
